Steampunk or Burlesque, You Decide

So while browsing facebook the other day, I stumbled upon this post…

“Dear fashion companies looking to make Steampunk themed clothing, shoes, and accessories. Please stop making it all in nothing but browns, creams, and blacks. We like color and rich fabrics. To prove me right, if you agree with this post “Like” it.”

Steampunk is not only a fashion rising in popularity by the second, but it’s also an entire subculture of gears and cogs mixing the power of steam with the lifestyle of the Victorian era.

I personally am fascinated by the entire culture, but what I love most is the fashion. The emphasis on brassy-gold tones and copper, mixed with beautiful and brightly colored satin and taffeta, throwing in random textiles, and more importantly, putting a bustled jacket over adorable tweed shorts. What I really love most is the structure, and when I say structure, I mean corsets. The harder it is to breathe the better looking your outfit is.

Quite possibly the coolest thing about the emphasis on corsets is that you can easily go from Steampunk to Burlesque. Hands down my favorite movie is Moulin Rouge; the music, the colors, and the corsets. Now with the rise of burlesque and Steampunk fashions, it’s all about corsets and bustles.

Now, Yandy’s focus isn’t necessarily on corsets and burlesque items, but we do have a wide selection of items that will add flair to any Steampunk or Burlesque look. Try our Chiffon Ruched Skirt to add some sexy volume under our Lace Trimmed Striped Satin Bustle Skirt or the Bombshell Bustle Skirt with Draped Beading to add a soft satin touch. Now add our Raven Corset, Extra Long Satin Gloves, Black Satin Top Hat, Vertical Striped Thigh Highs, and our Uptown Quilted Boots.

Whether you’re fighting an evil but lovable witch doctor, or putting on a fantastic show, you will look seductive in Steampunk or bewitching in Burlesque.
